Dorothy M. (Kakoleski) Prisco, 93, of Matawan, passed away, Monday, November 13, 2017, at the Atrium/Victoria Health Care, Matawan.  Born and raised in Jersey City, moving to Cranford for 53 years, prior to settling in Monmouth County in 2013.  She was a parishioner with St. Michael’s in Cranford for over 50 years, where she was a member of the Sunday 8:30AM Rosary Group.   She loved to travel and crisscrossed the country and the globe with her traveling companions, Arlene, Peggy and Ginny.  She also enjoyed playing bridge and was involved with many clubs over the years.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends celebrating the holidays, birthdays or just about any occasion deemed worthy.

During high school, one of Dorothy’s first jobs was at the Cinderella Shop in Jersey City. She began work at RCA in Harrison, NJ in 1942 and supported the war effort making radio equipment. She made friendships that endured long after she left in 1952 at the birth of her first child. She re-entered the workforce in the mid-1960’s returning to clothing retail, and spent many years at Mademoiselle in Westfield, NJ until retirement. She then served as a volunteer at RENEW International in Plainfield, NJ.

Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband of 38 years, Dominick J. Prisco, in 1987; and her parents, Ignatius and Victoria (Glogoczewski) Kakoleski.  She is survived by her two loving daughters, Patricia Thomas and her husband Edward; and Susan Capurso and her husband Vito; a dear brother, Robert I. Kakoleski; one cherished granddaughter, Lisa Throckmorton and her husband Gary; and two precious great grandchildren, Emma and Lucas.  Dorothy was a loving  wife and mother, devoted daughter, and a loyal and steadfast friend. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place,  Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday, November 18, 2017, 8AM at the funeral home, with a 9AM Funeral Mass at St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.  In lieu of flowers, donations to RENEW International (www.renewintl.org) or the Alzheimer’s Assocation (www.alz.org) are appreciated.  You may post a condolence to the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, at the website www.dayfuneralhome.com.
