John J. Smith

John J. Smith, 66, of Keansburg, passed away, Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.  Born in Newark, he resided in Cliffwood, before moving to Keansburg 32 years ago.  He worked construction before he became disabled.  Also, he was a US Official in Track and Field. 

John was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Myrtle Smith.  He is survived by his beloved fiancée, Terri Catena; his children, Howard Smith, Rosa Rogalsky and her husband John, Heather Smith, Norma Jean Catena and Brian Hayden; and Thomas Catena and his wife Barbara; two sisters, Dot Cameron and Carol Bennett; and three cherished grandchildren.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Thursday, December 1, 2016, 9:30AM, at the funeral home with a 10AM service.  Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan.  To post a condolence to the family or for directions to the funeral home, please visit www.dayfuneralhome.com.
