Daniel L. Beston, Jr.
March 27, 1919 ~ November 22, 2016 (age 97) 97 Years OldDaniel L. Beston Jr., 97, recently of Middletown, formerly of Clifton and Fairlawn, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living, Middletown. Daniel was a proud member of the United States Coast Guard and served his country as a Chief Gunner’s Mate on a Destroyer in World War II in the North Pacific Theater and Aleutian Islands of Alaska. He would also go on to serve in the same capacity in the Korean War Conflict patrolling the North Sea of England.
Daniel worked as a Quality Control Inspector for the United States Department of Defense for several years before retiring in 1973. He was very proud of his involvement with the Apollo Project while at the Department of Defense, and many other projects that he participated in.
He was a very forgiving and generous man and father.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Beston Sr. and Eva (Speilmann) Beston; his first wife, Hope Beston and his second wife, Freida Beston and his sister, Marie Swaney. He is survived by his loving son, Daniel L. Beston, III of Dandridge, TN; and his granddaughter, Patricia Holton. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited for visitation on Saturday, November 26, 2016, from 2-4PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735, with a funeral service during the visitation hours.
