William Joseph Sakowski Jr, 66 of Matawan, passed away Friday, January 19, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Red Bank, New Jersey to the late William Joseph Sakowski Sr. and Lucy Cecilia (Poppo) Sakowski and grew up in Hazlet, New Jersey.
Bill was an avid sports fan and coach who enjoyed going to Atlantic City and having a beer with friends. He was a proud gardener and loved being outdoors.
He was the bar manager of many local spots for several years. Bill was a self-employed contractor and painter.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Diane; his loving children Megan Boos and her husband Bryan of Matawan, Amanda O'Malley and her husband Sean of Ocean Township, and William Sakowski III and his wife Angelina of Old Bridge; and dear grandchildren Bennett Boos, Scarlett & Rowan O'Malley, and Adalyn, William IV, & Abigail Sakowski.
Bill also leaves behind a cherished sister Barbara Yaniak and her husband Ron of Matawan, niece Lauren Zdeb and husband Joe and in-laws Helen Wolf, Karl Wolf and wife Heidi, and Barbara Mrugalski and husband Don.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for William on Monday January 22, 2024 from 4-8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 and again Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 9:15AM at the funeral home for a 10AM Mass at St. Joseph's Church (Our Lady of Fatima Parish) of Keyport.
Following Mass, William will be privately cremated.
