Waltraud "Trudy" Augusta (Fleischmann) Lambert, 84 of Hazlet, passed away Friday January 31, 2020 at Bayshore Community Hospital of Holmdel.
She was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany and immigrated to the United States.
She was predeceased by her parents Friedrich Fleischmann and Antonia (Barth) Fleischmann; siblings Karl Fleischmann, Esther (Fleischmann) Morio, Heidi (Fleischmann) Hazzard and Rolf Fleischmann.
Trudy is survived by her children Barbara A. Guida and her husband Ray of Hazlet, Joseph Lambert and his Fiance' Kelly Miller of Matawan, James Lambert and his wife Gigi of South Carolina, Ruth Carlisle and her husband Otis of Alabama, and Heidi Lambert, also of Alabama.
She also leaves behind ten cherished grandchildren Dominick, Thomas, Gabrielle, Donna, Toni, Pete, Danielle, Joshua, Andrew and Angela; and seven cherished great-grandchildren.
She retired from Shop-Rite in 1999 after 36 years of service as a clerk and shop steward, in addition to being a Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Local 1262.
Trudy loved spending time in upstate New York with her family and friends, attending German festivals, gambling in Atlantic City, sharing her stories of Germany and WW2 but most importantly spending time with her cherished grandchildren.
At the request of the family, Trudy will be privately cremated.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday February 5, 2020 from 4PM to 8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735. At that time, a service will be offered at approximately 7PM.
