The family of Sylvia (Earles) Stricker, announce the passing of their beloved aunt who
died on September 14, 2023 at St. Peter’s Hospital, New Brunswick. She was the widow of Frederick W. Stricker who passed away in 1977.
A former resident of Keyport, New Jersey, Sylvia was currently under the care of Sunrise
Assisted Living in East Brunswick, NJ. Raised in Linden, NJ, she was born on February 10, 1924 to her parents Jack and Gizella Earles. In addition to loving her family, Sylvia had a love of her home, nature, the ocean, and animals of all kinds.
As a young women during WWII and one of the last of “The Greatest Generation,”
Sylvia worked on instrumentation on airplanes to support her country in time of war. She
continued this journey after the war as an inspector of airline instruments at Weston Instruments, Newark, and Plessey Dynamics, Hillside, NJ.
Sylvia is predeceased by her husband, Frederick Stricker, her parents Jack and Gizella
Earles, her siblings and their spouses, Eleanor (Joseph) Fox, Viola (Joseph) Squashic, and Edward (Barbara) Earles. She is survived by, her loving nieces and nephew, Karen (Robert) Tross, Joseph (Cindy) Squashic, Diane (Arthur [deceased]) Wilton, and Elizabeth (Josefina) Squashic. In addition, Sylvia is survived by 6 great nephews and nieces and 12 great, great nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her companion, Michael Pintinics.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at
Day Funeral Home in Keyport, New Jersey and again on Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Day Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Graceland Memorial Gardens, Kenilworth, NJ.
