Sylvia Margaret (Masia) Arotin

Sylvia Margaret Masia Arotin, 85 of Keyport passed away Thursday June 18, 2020 at Genesis of Manahawkin.
She was born June 10, 1935 in Bayonne, New Jersey to the late Angelo Masia and Catherine (Nicholais) Masia.
Sylvia was also predeceased by her husband Leon Arotin; sisters Roasemarie Pettijohn and Gloria Erxleben and a brother Rudolf Masia.
She is survived by her six children Catherine Weaver and her husband Montgomery of Union Beach, Julie Masino and her husband Robert of Blairstown, Alfred Poling and his wife Bonnie of West Creek, Toni Joyce and her husband Thomas Beers of Forked River, Timothy Poling and his wife Jeanette of Matawan and Robert Poling and his wife Lorraine of Toms River
Also surviving are 22 beloved grandchildren, 25 beloved great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, and a sister Lucy Furmato and her husband Mathew of Cliffwood, a brother Angelo Masia of Keyport  and many nieces and nephews. 
She loved to crochet, knit and made blankets for kids with cancer, read and play on her computer, and was a tutor for AOL.
Sylvia enjoyed singing and was in a country band with her husband in the eighties.
Sylvia was also a devout Catholic and taught CCD at St. Joseph's Church for many years.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for Sylvia on Monday June 22, 2020 at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 from 9AM to 11AM with a service at the funeral home at 11AM.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery of Keyport.
