Rocco A. Cerrato “Butch”, 81, of Cheesequake Village, Matawan New Jersey passed away May 14, 2022, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was predeceased by his beloved parents Rocco Cerrato and Anna (Paternella) Cerrato and brother Freddie Cerrato. Rocco is survived by his wife Josephine Cerrato, devoted children Roxanne Parse and her husband Tim, Theresa Scully and her husband Bill, Michael Cerrato and his wife Debbie. Cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Joseph, Patrick, KiKi, Jacob and Zachary. He will also be missed by his cousins and friends.
Rocco was born in Manhattan and lived in the Bronx prior to becoming a resident of Cheesequake Woods in 1969. He worked as a carpenter for Local 1342 in New York before joining the General Motors corporation in Linden, NJ – member of the UAW Local 595. His passion was sports… playing softball with his friends on “The Quakers” and enjoyed golf upon his retirement. He loved watching and never missed a NY Rangers or a NY Yankees game.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, 82nd Airborne and was honorably discharged with medals of honor.
Day Funeral Home of Keyport was entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations, in Rocco’s name, can be made to Alzheimer’s Association at ALZ - Donate or Vitas Hospice at Vitas Hospice - Donate The Shore Chapter
