Robert M. Kopcho Jr. (Chopper), age 61 passed away Thursday May 21 at Anchor Care & Rehabilitation in Hazlet.
Robert was born in Perth Amboy, May 30, 1958. A life long resident of Matawan. Robert is the son of the late Robert M. Kopcho Sr. and Bernice Kopcho of Matawan.
Robert was a team member of the Matawan Huskies 1976 State Football Champions team. He was a member of the Matawan Boro Fire Department, Matawan Hook & Ladder.
Chopper DJ was a well known DJ in many NJ Shore area night clubs. Chopper was a DJ on Radio station WHTG. Chopper enjoyed spending time with his many friends, which
started the "Fizel Fest" Uncle Bob was an avid NY Yankee fan, he shared his passion of the Yankees with his nephews and father, which they visited Yankee Stadium often to
cheer for the "Pinstripes" and enjoy a Yankee Stadium Hot Dog. He was an avid collector of NY Yankee memoraribilia. Chopper also was a Tampa Bay Buccaneer fan, along with
NASCAR, Rusty Wallace.
Robert was a happy guy, always a smile on his face. He was generous in giving to others. He was loved instantly by anyone he met.
Predeceased by his father, Robert Sr. He is survived by his mother, Bernice Kopcho, a sister, Lorna Jean Kopcho of Matawan, his sister Debbie Borden, Brother in Law -
John Borden of Marlboro, Nephews Brian Borden, his wife Mary Katherine of Covington, GA, Tim Borden, Aspen, CO and a Cousin Michael Gallagher of Panellas Park, FLA.
Services are private. A memorial Service will be held at a later date.
