Robert Fitzpatrick Sr Obituary

Robert J. Fitzpatrick, Sr., 88, formerly of Matawan, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home in Georgetown, Texas.

He was born in Nutley, NJ on October 22, 1934. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School in 1952. He attended St. Michael’s College in Vermont and graduated from Seton Hall
University with a degree in Marketing. After graduating, he worked at Carson Newton Company, the family business. After it was sold, he then worked for
Public Service Electric & Gas in Newark, NJ in the Accounting Dept. until becoming employed as a civilian for the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth. He also worked at
Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck, NJ before returning and retiring as Procurement Manager for the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth in 1995.


Bob loved baseball, a Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Mets fan! He (Mr. Fitz) loved coaching his Little League teams at St. Joseph’s ball fields, especially the
Padres. He also coached Babe Ruth/Keyport Padres, Senior Babe Ruth/ Matawan and Jersey Shore League/Marlboro. Bob was also a long time (40 years) member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Joseph Church in Keyport where he also served as President for over 20 years. Dad had a truly giving spirit for helping others and found a second home with everyone in the Society.


Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Mary Conroy Fitzpatrick, his parents William G. Fitzpatrick, Sr. and Dorothea Heim Fitzpatrick, his sister Gertrude F. Rogers and two brothers William G. Fitzpatrick, Jr. and Neil J. Fitzpatrick.


Bob is survived by his 3 children and their spouses Eileen and Steve Rosko of Georgetown, TX., Maureen and Rick Pedersen of Georgetown, TX., and Robert Fitzpatrick, Jr. of Houston, TX.; his 7 grandchildren and spouses Kim Rosko, Eric & Kara Pedersen, Erin & Dan Hardwick, Mark & Kathleen Pedersen, Melissa Rosko, Sarah & Jhonatan Aldama, Katie Rosko and 2 great granddaughters Cecilia & Olivia Pedersen along with many loving nieces, nephews and relatives.


Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2023 from 2:00PM – 4:00PM and 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Keyport, NJ. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport, NJ.
