Peter F. Allocco, the owner and operator of family-run Betsy Ross Farms of Holmdel, passed away Saturday May 1, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was 84.
Peter was a third-generation farmer, with family and business roots at Betsy Ross Farms, both in Holmdel and Port Monmouth, stretching back to his Grandfather in 1919.
He co-owned the farm with his wife Barbara and his son Frank.
Peter was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and has spent his entire life in the town of Holmdel. He worked as a farmer, as a fuel truck driver for Exxon, and as a meter technician for Jersey Central Power and Light.
Peter loved spending time with family, telling stories and talking about farming. He always tended his own garden and loved sharing the fruits of his labor with friends and family. He was known to be rugged but always fair and giving to those he loved.
He was predeceased by his wife Barbara, his parents Frank G. Allocco Sr. and Rose (Genovese) Allocco; and brothers Gabriel and Frank Jr. Allocco.
He is survived by his son and his daughter-in-law, Frank P. and Rebekah Allocco and a cherished granddaughter, Lillian Rose Allocco. Also surviving are his sister-in-law, Rachel Allocco, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for Peter on Friday May 7, 2021 at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey from 11AM to 1PM. At that time a funeral service will be offered for Peter.
Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery of Keyport
