Peggy King Obituary

Peggy King, age 74, was born and raised in Jersey City who then became a long-time resident of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.   Peggy was beloved by everyone she met and treated everyone as if they were her own family.  She was a kind, warm and a loving person who will be greatly missed.  Her greatest loves in life, besides her family and friends, were soccer (specifically Manchester United) and anything Irish.  Peggy loved to travel and spent many of her vacations in Ireland.

Peggy’s last job was her favorite, she was a courtesy aide at Raritan High School and that was her “Cheers” where everyone knew her name and she of course knew their name.

She is survived by her brothers, George King, Sr. and his wife June of Upper Montclair, NJ and Marty King and his wife Judy of Wells, Maine along with her loving nieces and nephew, Susan Munhall, George J. King Jr., Ann Jennings, Cathy King, Cindy Hanson, Judy Moody and Kelly O’Brien.

In addition, “Aunt Peggy” is survived by her beloved “longtime family friends”– the Hilliard’s of Hazlet – Barbara her best friend of 50 plus years and her husband Robert along with their children, Kevin, Brian (Cortney), and her cherished godsons, Brendan (Lauren) and Brett (Claudia).

Also, Peggy was close to the LaRocca family of Middletown, NJ – April and her husband Mike along with their sons, Michael, Sean and Jack.

In keeping with Peggy’s wishes, cremation and services will be private.

A donation in Peggy’s name can be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Clement Church, 172 Freneau Ave. Matawan, NJ - attn. Father Tom who comforted her in her last days.

Let's all do at least one act of kindness in honor of Peggy and her kind heart.
