Maura (Fitzgerald) Ferrano passed away on August 4,2021. She was 62 years old. Though Maura’s health was compromised for the last year and half, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. It would be wrong to say that Maura lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, she was always determined. When anyone else would have broken, Maura stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly look like. There was no quit in Maura. Just because she is no longer here, it doesn’t mean she lost her fight. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through with determination but God had other plans.
Maura was born to Mary and Mike Fitzgerald August 27, 1958 in Irvington New Jersey. Moved to Old Bridge (Madison Park) and graduated Cedar Ridge High School in 1976. Maura moved to Keyport, NJ after meeting the love of her life Matthew Ferrano and married 44 years. She lived in Keyport for 27 years raising her two sons and enjoying her ‘vacation like’ pool and backyard where she loved to entertain and host many fun family/friend gatherings. Maura was a Dental Assistant for 35 years, recently retired, she moved with her husband to Spotswood, NJ and has spent quality time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
Maura was one of a kind, the BEST Kind, forever dedicated to her family and those she called a friend. A wonderful woman, that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. Our “Nana,” as she liked to be called by her grandchildren, was an amazing wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and forever friend. Since her teens, Maura loved music, her “tunes” and attended many rock concerts in her lifetime; she loved to party and have fun ‘rocking out’. Maura dabbled in Art in her teens and was great at drawing; she kept her creative talent throughout her life. This might be what motivated her love of holiday home décor that you were guaranteed to find when you entered her home; it always made you smile. Maura also loved horticulture; her plants would shine under her care. She loved to partake in ‘ Tricky-Tray’ outings with her friends and daughter-in-law.
She was strong-willed and her heart was enormous, filled with unconditional love and care for all those in her path. You needed a helping hand, say no more, Maura would be right there with her open heart, ready to step in and get the job done. She was amazing like that, great at taking charge of the situation.
For those fortunate to have known her from childhood, Maura had an amazing gift to stay true to her character, regardless of what fell in her path Maura never changed. Her unique personality was exactly the same throughout her life; which is what we all LOVED about her, there was no one like Maura; she was one in a million.
Maura is survived by her loving husband of 44 years Matt Ferrano, her son Matthew and wife Ileana, son Christopher and wife Angela, and her 2 beautiful grandchildren Vanessa (8) & Ethan(5) Ferrano.
She also leaves behind her Mother Mary Fitzgerald, brother Matthew and wife Carol Ann, brother Martin Fitzgerald, brother Mark Fitzgerald and wife Sandy, sister-in-law Margaret Ferrano Sama and husband Tony, sister-in-law Kathy Ferrano Sobocinski and husband Al, sister-in-law Patricia Ferrano Miller, brother-in-law Tim Ferrano, sister-in- law Ruth Imbro and brother-in-law Michael Ferrano, along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loved ones that cleared the path for Maura were her Father, Mike Fitzgerald, Mother and Father-in-law Cathy & James Ferrano, brother-in-law, Jimmy Ferrano, Sister-in-law, Loreen Ferrano and brother-in-law Raymond Miller.
