Marie Kantra

Marie E. Kantra, 89, of Matawan, passed away, Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel, after a long illness. She lived in Perth Amboy most of her life, moving to Matawan, 20 years ago.

Marie was an avid reader, and enjoyed visiting historical sites and museums.

In the 1950s, she worked for Merck Pharmaceuticals Co. in Rahway, NJ, as a secretary in the medical research dept.

In the 1960s, she worked as a receptionist at William F. Kantra Inc., Metuchen, her husband's real estate office.

She proudly worked at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, for 20 years, from 1973 - 1993, in the administrative office of the Secretary of the University. Retired in '93.

Marie is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill, William F. Kantra. And predeceased by her parents Michael and Mary Malinowski. She is survived by 2 loving daughters, Karen Kantra and Michele Kantra-Meyer and her husband Michael D. Meyer; and many beloved cousins.

She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.

At the direction of the family, Marie will be privately cremated and interred at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Perth Amboy.

No services or visitation are planned, at Marie's request.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that, in her memory, have a mass said at the local parish of your choice, a mass in her memory, to bless her and remember her life.
