Mariarita “Maria” Inguaggiato, 50 of Pemberton, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday October 31, 2021 at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Medicine of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was born to her late parents Calogero "Charles" Inguaggiato and Alberta "Bettina" (Orlando) Inguaggiato.
Maria received her high school diploma from Matawan Regional High School, Class of 1989. She later received a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University.
Maria enjoyed many professions in her early years; florist, wedding photographer, and relator. She was actively involved in Civil Air Patrol and also enjoyed volunteering for the Matawan Fire Department. She was a proud member of the Women’s Criminal Justice League of NJ. Maria was a substitute teacher for Burlington and Camden school districts. She later found herself working for Fort Dix at Youth Challenge, which she was very proud of. She was last working at the New Jersey State Department of Corrections in Trenton as a teacher for the inmates.
Maria is survived by her brother Joseph Inguaggiato and his wife Heather Campbell of Keyport. Her lifelong best friend of 41 years Jennifer Siehl and many cousins and friends.
Maria was a fun loving spirited woman who had a heart of gold. She was always there for her family and friends. She was proud of her Italian (Sicilian) heritage and spoke fluent Italian.
Maria had a love for animals, especially cats, she had 2 Cats. She provided many hours of volunteer services to multiple organization, such as; local animal shelters and refuges and Veteran services. She loved working for liquor distributors, doing liquor demonstrations, especially wine demos.
Maria was a supporter of the LGBTQIA community and has many supportive friends from this community.
At the request of the family, Maria will be privately cremated.
Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday November 19, 2021 from 4-8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
Mariarita's Ashes will be privately interred at a later date.
