Maria A. Vanga, 86 of Keasbey, NJ died peacefully at her daughter's home in Aberdeen, NJ.
Born in Ciales, Puerto Rico to Pedro and Altagracia Marrero, she and her family moved to Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, where she was raised. At the age of 12, Maria came to live in Brooklyn, New York and was raised by close friends. In February, 1956 Maria met Pedro M. Vanga. They were quickly engaged and married on December 15, 1956.
Maria and Pedro settled in the Bronx where they raised their two daughters. They later moved to New Jersey in May of 1991, settling in Aberdeen in January of 1994 and later relocating to Keasbey in 2018.
She is survived by her husband Pedro M Vanga; daughters Rosemarie (Misael) Quinones of Aberdeen, Judith Vanga of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandchildren Ryan, Briana and Bethany Quinones, Nikolas, Angelique, Daniela and Jacqueline Vera; a great-grandaughter Athena Anderson; a sister Rosa Colon, a brother Carlos Marrero, sister-in-law Isabel Vanga and Julie (Paul) Harper, brother-in-law Carlos (Alice) Vanga and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family Maria will be privately cremated.
Day Funeral Home of Keyport was entrusted with the arrangements.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday September 24, 2022 11AM at Our Lady of Fatima Parish (Saint Joseph's Church), alternatively Jesus The Lord Church of Keyport if St. Joseph renovations are not complete.
