Louise A. Mauro, 89, of Morganville was called home on Sunday, December 12, 2021, while surrounded by her family.
Born in Union Beach, she also lived in Keyport before settling in Morganville where she and her late husband James, lovingly raised their family.
She was a founding member of St. Clement’s Church and their Rosary Altar Society. She volunteered many hours at the church and made many friends there.
Later she worked at Holmdel High School as a lunch lady, where she was affectionally known as “Weezie.”
Family traditions were very important to her and she passed on her many recipes including ravioli and pickling vegetables from the garden. Her french toast will never be forgotten.
We are certain she was welcomed to heaven by those who predeceased her, her parents Julius & Antoinette Raskowski, her son-in-law Vincent Papalia, her sister-in-law Joan Mauro and her siblings Mary, Stella, Helen, and Antoinette, and her soul-mate and late husband James Mauro.
Left to keep her traditions and memories alive are her daughter, Alice Papalia of Lanoka Harbor, her son, Larry Mauro and his wife Darlene, her cherished grandchildren, Frank Papalia and his wife Erin, James Papalia, Rita (Mauro) and her husband Kirk Galbreath, Gina Mauro, and Jamie Mauro, and those she considered her greatest gift, her great-grandchildren, James, Ava, & Emily Papalia and Emma and Noah Galbreath. She will be missed by her siblings, Bernice Davenport, Albert Raskasky (wife, Karen) and Dolores Matson (husband Ron) and brother in law, Samuel Mauro
Relatives and friends are invited Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8pm and Friday 9am at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Pl., Keyport NJ 07735. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, 10am at St. Clements RC Church, Matawan. Burial will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Keyport.
