Kevin Robert Hilliard

   Kevin Robert Hilliard, 41 of Hazlet passed away Friday September 3, 2021 at Spring Hills Post Acute Matawan (a long-term care facility) after battling a terminal brain disease for many years.
 
   He is survived by his loving parents Robert Hilliard and Barbara (Kuchar) Hilliard and siblings Brian (Cortney), Brendan (Lauren), Brett (Claudia), Mark Hilliard and Christine Newton.
 
   Kevin was an active, loving child and born with his father’s red hair and blue eyes on September 4, 1979. Unfortunately, as a preschooler he developed a progressive degenerating terminal brain disease of unknown origin that gave him a life expectancy of 7-9 years old (but doctors were wrong and he lived to the day before his 42nd birthday). His parents bonded together to form “Team Kevin” and made it their mission to find an answer and a cure. 20 hospitals in 6 states and numerous world renowned neurologists could not give a definitive diagnosis so “Team Kevin” mission became getting the best care for him and making him comfortable and out of pain. He was our living angel and now is our angel in heaven.
 
   Throughout it all Kevin never complained and always had a smile – even in the past 7 years in a semi vegetative state, he would on a good day smile at his parents. He is now at peace, our angel in heaven and is with his beloved Nana and “Team Kevin” will retire.
 
   At the request of the family Kevin will be privately cremated.
 
   Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial visitation for Kevin on Sunday September 12, 2021 from 1PM to 3PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
