Julia T (Trombetta) Shutter

Julia T. Shutter, 91, of Keyport, passed away on Monday, September 21 at Bayshore Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Tompkinsville, Staten Island, New York. Julia moved to Hazlet, N.J. in 1995 with her daugher's family and then to Keyport in 2005.

Julia was predeceased by her husband Charles Shutter Jr., parents Silviano and Antoinette Trombetta and siblings. She is survived by her children Julieann Shutter Caggiano of Holmdel, her son Charles Shutter of Jackson , and grandchildren Gregory Caggiano and Tracey Moriarty. 
Descended from Italian immigrants, Julia was the last remaining of 13 children born to Silviano and Antoinette. She worked on Staten Island as a telephone operator for AT & T leaving the workforce to be a Mother and homemaker and later was a teacher's aid for the New York Public Schools System.
Despite increasingly difficult arthritis, she continued to live on her own, cooking and taking care of herself until her final days. She was known for her witty sense of humor, feistiness, and incredible memory. Julia loved to cook, eat, go to restaurants, and try new things. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
A member of the Keyport Senior Center since 2005, Julia attended five days a week to spend time with the many friends she made. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, singing in the choir, ceramics and arts and crafts. She was immensely popular among other members and credited the Senior Center with giving her something to look forward to every day.
