Joseph F. DiMartino, 88 of Cliffwood Beach passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at home. He was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Joseph DiMartino and Teresa (Manziano) DiMartino.
Joe was also predeceased by his beloved wife of 24 years, Edythe “Edie” (MacGillvary) DiMartino and his siblings Anne Rienzo, Catherine DiCiancia, Rose DiMartino and Helen Girardi.
He is survived by his loving children Julia Krauss and her husband Paul of Davidson, North Carolina, Felicia Di Rocco and her husband Frank Jr. of Manahawkin, and Jessica DiMartino of San Francisco, California; grandchildren Scout and Camille Krauss, Dean, Max, and Delia Di Rocco, Zev and Leo Bernstein; a loving sister Grace Hawkes and devoted long-time partner Agnes Grenci.
Joe obtained his Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hall University and would go on to have a career working for the State of New Jersey as a Supervisor for the Disability Claims Department before his retirement.
Joe, affectionately called Romeo by his friends at Davita in Matawan, was a master gardener, avid woodworker, Yankee fan, and smooth operator on the dance floor. He enjoyed Burger King breakfasts with friends – especially Edward Paluzzi. He traveled to Italy and Alaska. His favorite place to visit, though, was the slot machines in Atlantic City.
A St. Joseph of Keyport parishioner, Joe now rests peacefully with his heavenly father.
At the request of the family, Joseph will be privately cremated.
The family will gather to celebrate Joe’s life at a later date.
