Joseph N. Banis, 85, of Keyport passed away on November 9, 2023. He proudly served his country in the US Navy, was a life-long member of the American Legion (Post 321), the Elks (Lodge 2030), and the Knights of Columbus (Council 3402). Joseph was a feeder driver for UPS (Teamsters Local 177) for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. Throughout his life Joseph
had a passion for his family, trains, fishing, puzzles, birds, and the crazy squirrels.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents; Michael and Anna Banis, his loving wife of 60 years Bertiemay Banis (2020), his sibling James and Kathy Banis; his brother-in-law Maurice Justice; his sister-in-law MaryAnn Zieminski; his niece Valerie Hacker; and his nephews Robert Hacker and Michael Justice.
Joseph is survived by his loving children; Joseph Banis, Jr. (Keyport, NJ), Christine Banis (Jackson, NJ), Tinamarie Majaros (Franklin Park, NJ), Barbara Banis (Jackson, NJ), and Mary Banis (St. Petersburg, FL). Joseph also leaves his cherished grandchildren; Cassandra and Michael Falzone, John Banis, Joseph Banis, Andrew and Kristen Majaros, Miranda Majaros, and three adored great grandchildren; Kaedyn Lynn, Kymberli Diane, and Michael Keith Falzone. Joseph is also survived by his siblings; Jean Justice, Debra and Daniel Ilijev, David G’froehrer, his nieces and nephews; Liz and Phil Lanigan, Laura Justice, Michael and Michele Banis, Douglas and Cynthia Ilijev, Richard and Charisse Zieminski, and Maryann Zieminski.
Relatives and friends are welcome to visit on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735, from 10am until noon. Interment will follow at Alpine Cemetery, 703 Amboy Ave, Perth Amboy, NJ 08861.
