John (Giovanni) Tuccitto Obituary

John (Giovanni) Salvatore Tuccitto

1932 - 2024 (age 91)

John (Giovanni) Salvatore Tuccitto, age 91, departed peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, surrounded by the warmth of his loving family. Known affectionately as Poppy to his cherished grandchildren and John to his dear family and friends, his life was a tapestry of love, service, and enduring connections.

Born on June 20, 1932, in the heart of New York, NY, to Giuseppe and Cesaria (Giuliano) Tuccitto, John's journey led him from the Bronx to Matawan, NJ, in 1961, and later to Glen Arm, MD, in 1973, where he built a life filled with remarkable achievements and unwavering devotion.

A Cardinal Hayes High School graduate in 1950, John pursued higher education at Fordham University, earning a bachelor's degree in Finance in 1954. Serving honorably in the United States Army until 1956, John embarked on a successful corporate career, starting as a junior credit man at C. I. T. Corporation, where destiny introduced him to the love of his life, Josephine (Sissy) DiSanto.

Retiring from Signet Bank in 1995, John embraced the ensuing years with a passion for family, global exploration, fervent support for the Baltimore Ravens, and engaging conversations on world events with his close friends.

John delighted in opera and Broadway musicals as an art patron, sharing these cultural treasures with his children and grandchildren during memorable outings to New York and Baltimore performances. His generous spirit extended beyond family, as he supported Covenant House, Tunnel to Towers, and Catholic Charities.

Family was paramount to John, who reveled in his roles as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his cherished children, Mary Sharples and Anne Tuccitto, devoted daughter-in-law Karen Botti and her husband Bob Botti, and son-in-law Edward Sharples, who shared a chapter of life with his daughter. Also, adoring grandchildren Sarah Tuccitto, Jessica Sharples, Jennifer Sharples, and Jillian Sharples. In eternal rest, he reunites with his loving wife, Josephine Tuccitto, and beloved son, Joseph Tuccitto.
