John Francis Franson

John Francis Franson, 94 of Cliffwood Beach, passed away Saturday December 26, 2020 at Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center of Hazlet.

He was predeceased by his parents Perry August Franson and Sarah Jane (Gill) Franson, and beloved wife Jane A. (Mikus) Franson.

John is survived by his beloved children Colleen Knueppel and her husband David of Cliffwood Beach and Jacqueline J. Horton and her husband William of Aberdeen; grandchildren Billy Horton and his wife Amy, Mike Horton and his wife Christine, John Horton and his wife Kathy, Jessica Knueppel and her partner Jeff of Laurence Harbor; and great-grandchildren Samantha, Angie, Emma, Dean and Leo.

John was a proud Navy Veteran serving his country during World War II.  

He was the longtime Head Custodian for the Matawan Aberdeen School District, retiring in 1991 and was a Life Member and the Past Post Commander of local VFW Post #4745.

John enjoyed fishing, bowling, being a handyman, a trained re-uphulsterer of furniture, and above all else loved his family.

Relatives and friends are invite to a visitation for John on Tuesday December 29, 2020 from 10AM to 12:30PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  A Funeral Mass will follow at 1PM at Saint Joseph's Church of Keyport (Our Lady of Fatima Parish).

Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery of Keyport.
