Edward Charles Flynn, Sr.(91) of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away on June 26, 2022 at Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Facility in Hazlet, New Jersey.
Edward was born in Perth Amboy to the late James and Julia (Small) Flynn. He resided in Keyport for his entire life.
Edward proudly served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman with the Marines where he recieved a Purple Heart during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he worked as a Supervisor under the New Jersey Dept. of Transportation, before his retirement in 1982.
Edward served on the town council for 10 years and was the Mayor for six years, in Keyport. He was also an active member of the American Legion of Keyport (Post #23) and he was a life member of Eagle Hose Fire Company, also in Keyport.
Edward is predeceased by his loving wife, Gladys M. (Lambertson) Flynn and a dear brother, James Flynn.
He leaves behind his two children, Edward Jr. and his wife Linda of S. Toms River, New Jersey, and Jeffrey and his wife Laurie of St. Petersburg, Florida; his cherished grandchildren, David and his fiance, Joann, Kimberly and her husband, Dean, Kelly and Sean Flynn, John Myers and Alexus; as well as his adored great-grandchildren, Zoe Romanelli, John Edward Myers II, and Landon Myers.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Day Funeral Home in Keyport, New Jersey Wednesday June 29, 2022 from 9AM to 12PM. A funeral service will be held at that time at the funeral home at 11AM.
Burial will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery in Manalapan, New Jersey.
