Cynthia McGovern, 73, of Tinton Falls passed away Saturday April 13, 2024 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, after a brief illness. Born June 28, 1950, in Long Branch, New Jersey to the late Raymond J. McGovern and Pauline (Corcione) McGovern, Cindy graduated Raritan High School, Hazlet, spending many years in retail banking, then with Lucent Technologies, concluding her working years with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
Cindy’s lifelong love of animals was limitless, especially for her ‘foster failures’. She cared for her cats unconditionally and they loved her back. A dedicated volunteer with numerous animal rescues and passionate about finding each a loving home, she went to great lengths to ensure as many as possible were adopted. Cindy also sustained her love of horses by volunteering with Bluemont Sanctuary. Her lasting commitment and passion to these causes inspired respect and service in many others.
A lifelong fan of live music began with the British Invasion, especially the Dave Clark Five, and made her a beloved presence at Jersey Shore venues and concert halls, providing much appreciated support (sweets!) to local musicians and stars alike.
Cindy is survived by her loving brother Raymond McGovern and his wife Judy of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, her dear nieces Emily McGovern, Katie Crews, Abby Tovar and her husband Stephen, and cherished great-nephew Hugh Tovar. Her passing has impacted a legion of friends.
These friends and relatives are invited to a visitation for Cindy on Saturday April 27, 2024 from 8:30am to 9:45am with a service to follow at 10:00am at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Middletown.
