Beverly DePrisco Obituary

On January 13, 2022, our beloved Mother, Beverly Ann Theresa Giuffre DePrisco passed away.

Our Mom was as tough as they come and nothing mattered more to her than her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Her last moments of lucidity were equal parts threats to haunt us for not doing what she said and telling us she loved us and it was ok to say goodbye.

She was always “the boss” as Dad said. She always knew exactly what you should do in every situation and would be sure to tell you whether or not you wanted to hear it.

She was sharp, had a great sense of humor and a deep understanding of each one of us right down to the core. She told us things no one else could, always with the best of intentions to help us in one way or another.

She loved going to AC and playing the slots, especially when she won. She especially loved it when she went with a large group of friends and stayed the weekend to see a show.

She loved parties and weddings where she would catch up with those that were dear to her that she didn’t always get a chance to see.

She loved Elvis Presley and music from when she was a kid. Joe took her and her sister, Aunt Pat, to Graceland where they had an amazing time reminiscing and giggling like when they were kids.

She was the “cool” kid her whole life and a bit of a rebel to the very end. She especially liked being the “cool” Grandma that you could confide in and who would spray Reddiwhip into her grandkid’s mouths when their parents weren’t looking.

She tried to stay current on things to connect with all of us like watching The Bachelor, so she could debate about all the contestants with Jenna. We went shopping for “something Kardashian” for Angelina. Keeping up on the latest news about the Rangers or Yankees or the last Centennial football game to talk to Michael, Christopher, Nicky, Reggie, Jake or Danny about. She asked with great interest about anything she knew we were all up to whether it be work, traveling, how our friends were doing, Buddy and Pam’s new house or Matt’s girlfriend. She even knew about Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig for Lawrence and Penelope.

She loved everything about Christmas and thought long and hard about what to get each of us because she wanted to give us something we loved or something that was useful. She loved the decorations, especially if they were Lenox, and getting ready for the big day. Mostly, she loved Christmas because we were all together and it was a happy day.

Mom was a surrogate Mom/Grandma to many because she always had plenty of love to go around. She was also a beloved sister, aunt, cousin and friend to so many people. People were always drawn to her warmth and it was not uncommon for her to spend 30 minutes with someone and find out their deepest darkest secrets in half the time.

Mom was smart and really should have been a doctor because she loved learning about anything to do with the human body. She accurately diagnosed us all at one point or another.

Mom was also the best cook. Her cheesecake, rainbow cookies, sauce and meatballs, chicken cutlets, eggplant parmigiana, artichokes and soup were legendary. If it was your “favorite”, she made sure it was on hand whenever you visited.

The hole she leaves behind is immense and we will all miss her everyday for the rest of the days of our lives. We love you Mom and hope that you find the peace that you so richly deserve. You always said, jokingly, that you would be the first St Beverly with the amount of hell we put you through. You certainly are a saint in our books.

We thank you all for the outpouring of love and support these last weeks. She knows you all loved her and she said to tell you all that she loves you too. Due to COVID-19, we will have a small private ceremony for the immediate family within the week. We wish things were different but everyone’s health and safety would be more important to Mom than having a large gathering now. When things improve along with the weather, we will celebrate her life by having a memorial service and party to remember her. In lieu of flowers or food, we ask that you donate to The Scleroderma Foundation at scleroderma.org. She suffered from this, as well as many other autoimmune diseases, for over 30 years and finding a cure to this one in particular was a cause that was near and dear to her heart.
