Barbara A. Van Meerbeke (DellaPietro) , 78 of Hazlet, passed away Tuesday August 17, 2021 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.
Born in Red Bank to the late Samuel DellaPietro and Marion (Ludlow) DellaPietro, originally from Matawan, she moved to Hazlet where she has resided for 62 years. Barbara’s employment included positions at Kerr Glass (Keyport), Connectron (Old Bridge), Lifestyle Corp, (Morganville), and Montessori Academy (Marlboro).
Barbara was predeceased by her husband Kenneth G. Van Meerbeke, a son James Van Meerbeke, siblings Frances Retz and Frederick DellaPietro.
She is survived by her children William Van Meerbeke and his wife Anne of Eatontown, Debra Teicher and her husband David of Jackson, Patricia Sage and her husband James of Marlboro and Kenneth Van Meerbeke and his wife Maureen of Hazlet; 12 grandchildren: Maria Ann Dougherty, David Teicher, Sarah Moore, James and Matthew Sage, William, Brian and Nicole Van Meerbeke, Jamie Sweat, Kenneth, Kristen and Daniel Van Meerbeke: and 8 great grandchildren: Thomas, Autumn, and Michael Moore, Lucian Dougherty, Nolan and Conor Teicher, and Jack and Luke Sage.
The simple pleasures of time spent with family and friends brought great joy to Barbara. Her comforting and joyful personality was contagious to everyone she met. Her meatballs were the highlight of all family gatherings. Christmas Eve at Cornell Drive became a 50-year tradition that no one wanted to miss. The door was always open, a loving hug and smile greeted all, memories created year after year, her favorite day.
Barbara, Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma touched all our lives and will be enormously missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation for Barbara at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 on Monday August 23, 2021 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM and again on Tuesday August 24, 2021 9:30AM at the funeral home with a funeral service at the funeral home at 10:00AM.
Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery of Hazlet.
