Walter L. Newman

Walter L. Newman, 82, of Manchester, passed away, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Community Medical Center, Toms River.  Born in Hempstead, NY, he resided in Shoreham, NY for 30 years; Lauderdale by the Sea, FL for two years; and Midlothian, VA for three years, prior to settling in Manchester, NJ.  He worked as a Union Painter with Local 1486 D.C. 9, Long Island, NY.  He was a member of the Leisure Village West Westernaires, Railroad Club, Stained Glass Club, Plays Club, Bocce Club, Golf Club, Vistan Group and Service Group.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Tin Can Sailors.

Walter was predeceased by his beloved wife, Madeleine M. (Gibson) Newman and his parents, Walter L. and Agnes (Jacobsen) Newman, Sr.   He is survived by his loving children, Susan Martin of Toms River; Kristen Ferrara and husband Joseph of Forked River; and John Newman and wife Stacey Craven of VA; a dear sister, Patricia A. Laufer of NY; and four cherished grandchildren, Joey, Deayla, Sophia and Aylin.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

At the direction of family, Walter will be privately cremated. Burial of cremains will take place at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, on Thursday, February 1, 2018, 2:30PM in the Chapel.  Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735, was entrusted with the funeral arrangements.  You may post a condolence to the family at the funeral home website www.dayfuneralhome.com.
