Thomas John Knapp, 72, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital of New Brunswick.
Thomas leaves behind his cherished wife of 44 years Deborah (Schaefer) Knapp; children Heather O'Sullivan of Minersville, Pennsylvania, Thomas Knapp and his wife Elaine of Old Bridge; grandchildren Kirsten, Ryan, Adrianna, Christopher, McKenna; and one great-grandchild Alexander.
He is also survived by many extended family members.
He was the longtime owner of Knapp's Automotive of Old Bridge, and even in his retirement lended his extensive automobile knowledge to Century Auto Group.
Thomas proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard until his honorable discharge in 1971.
Thomas led a very active life. He was a private airplane pilot, taught automotive classes, loved to fish, hunt, and scuba dive, and loved all things history.
He will be missed and always cherished by his family.
He was born in Elizabeth to the late Joseph Knapp and Corrine (Smith) Knapp and was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Richard and Bob Knapp.
At the request of the family, Thomas will be privately cremated and the family will hold a private ⁰memorial at a later date.
