Robert H. Gallery of Hazlet, NJ passed away peacefully on October 20, 2017 at Bayshore Community Hospital of Holmdel. 

 

Robert was born in 1945 in Bayonne, NJ.  He moved to Old Bridge, NJ in 1955 with his parents and two younger brothers. Robert graduated from St. Mary’s High School in South Amboy, NJ in 1963. He moved to Union Beach, NJ in 1990 and to Hazlet, NJ in 2002. Robert worked at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Linden, NJ for 37 years. He became the plant Fire Chief in 1983 and was one of the last people to work on the site when the plant was demolished in 2007. He was past member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, The National Fire Protection Association, The National Fire Academy Alumni Association, The New Jersey Industrial Fire Chiefs Association, and a past Chairman of the Linden Industrial Mutual Aid Council in Linden, NJ.

 

He was also a Life Member of the Madison Park Volunteer Fire Company District 4 Old Bridge Twp., The Old Bridge Township Exempt Fireman’s Association, The New Jersey Fireman’s Association, and also a Life Member and Past Commander of the Sons of The American Legion Squadron 321 Union Beach, NJ.

 

He was predeceased by his parents Edward T. and Mary L. Gallery and two younger brothers Edward T. Gallery II and Donald B. Gallery. Robert is survived by his beloved wife Maryjane Bellaran Gallery of Hazlet. He is also survived by his son Robert E. Gallery and his wife Jill of Fords, NJ, his daughter Colleen Gallery Dioguardi and her husband Joseph of Cream Ridge, NJ, his step daughter Amber Gallery Grossman and her husband Jason of NYC. Three cherished granddaughters Shannen Gallery, Lorelai and Cambree Dioguardi and a nephew Ryan Gallery of Lanoka Harbor, NJ.

 

Visitation will be held Monday October 23, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at Day Funeral Home 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. A service will be held Monday evening at the funeral home. For further information please visit www.dayfuneralhome.com
