Mary Grace "Penny" (DeMatteo) Kelley

Mary Grace “Penny” (DeMatteo) Kelley, 88, of Whiting, formerly of Keyport, passed away, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in South Amboy and grew up in Genoa (Cliffwood), which she loved.  Penny worked as a doctor’s aide with Dr. Kowalski, Sayreville and then as a manager with M&M Fashion, Keyport.  But her real job was raising her family, who meant everything to her.  She was a former member of the St. Joseph Altar Rosary Society, Keyport; and an avid Yankees fan.

Penny was predeceased by her first husband, George W. Jacobs in December 1979; her beloved second husband, Michael Edward Kelley in September 2016; her parents, Rocco and Linda (Castellucio) DeMatteo; a brother and five sisters.  She is survived by two loving daughters, Penny Malinowski of Smithville; and Nina Pantozzi and her husband Paul of Ocean Ridge, FL; two sisters, Polly Calicari of Keyport and Vera Tenore of Parish, FL;  her adored grandson, Thomas Malinowski; and many nieces and nephews that she treated like her own.  She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Friday, July 7, 2017, from 4-7PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday, July 8, 2017, 8:45AM, at the funeral home, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.  To post a condolence to the family or for directions to the funeral home, please visit the funeral home website at www.dayfuneralkeyport @ gmail.com.
