John Anagnostopoulos, 87 years old, passed away November 15, 2018. He grew up in Kalavrita, Greece with his parents and three sisters. At the age of 18, in hopes for a better life, he came to Montreal, Canada on a work visa. He met and married the love of his life, Georgia. They remained married for 65 years until her passing earlier this year. Together they migrated to New Jersey and settled in Hazlet to raise their family. They owned and operated the Polar Cub & Polar Bear Ice Cream Stores. His passion and dedication was evident in the 50 years of successful ownership. In addition to the ice cream store, he owned multiple restaurants where he served as head chef. John was a devoted family man who provided and supported for his loved ones until the end.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Georgia and beloved son, Tommy. John is survived by; daughters Dina Beahrs, Angela Cauffman, and Maria Anagnostopoulos; sons-in-law, Chuck Beahrs and Ronnie Cauffman; grandchildren, Mario Farmakis and his wife Michelle, John Farmakis and his wife Beth, Justin Cauffman and his fiancé Jacqueline Ford, Jessica Burkard and her husband Brian; great grandchildren, Matthew & Nathan Farmakis, and Raelynn Burkard. His strength and courage will never be forgotten and our lives will never be the same. We love you now and forever. It is with heavy hearts, we hand you back to God until we meet again.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at 1 pm on Friday, November 23rd, at the Marlboro Memorial Cemetery’s Chapel, 361 Highway 79 Morganville, NJ 07751 with burial to follow.
