Gretchen Ann (Hendrickson) Cruz

Gretchen Ann Cruz, 82, of Aberdeen , NJ passed away peacefully, Saturday, January 11th, at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, surrounded by her family. 
Gretchen was born in Red Bank, New Jersey on October 21, 1937, the daughter of the late Drusilla (Matthews) and Daniel Hendrickson. She was raised in her beloved hometown of Keyport, prior to moving to Aberdeen. She was the loving wife of Ernesto Cruz for 54 years. Gretchen was a Bus Driver for children with special needs for 37 years at Milu Bus Company and Unlimited Bus Transportation. She also served as an Assistant for the Hazlet Aberdeen Matawan(HAM) Adult Recreation program. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. 
Gretchen never met a stranger. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her love and kindness. She was best know for her million dollar smile and her wonderful sense of humor. She was an avid  bingo player,loved a winning lottery scratch off, and keeping up on the latest current events by reading the newspaper daily.
Gretchen is predeceased by her son Daniel (2018) and her sister Janet Davino (1995). She is survived by her loving husband Ernesto, devoted children Raymond(Cathy), Tina Riechers (Paul), and Shelly Minutillo(Michael), and cherished grandchildren Matthew and Natalie Riechers. She is additionally survived by her nieces Lisa Davino and Susan Jones, and loyal family friend, Denise Walsh.
A memorial gathering will be held Friday from 5-7pm at Day Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Colliers High School 160 Conover Road Morganville, NJ 07751
