Geraldine C. (Hearn) Hicks, 90, of Howell, passed away, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. She was born on February 12th, 1927 to Mary and Arthur J Hearn. Geraldine was the 2nd oldest of 11 children born in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland. She was 19 years old when she traveled to the United States to become a nanny where she met Bernard Hicks, they married in September 1947 and were married for fifty years.
She is predeceased by her husband Bernard Hicks who died in 1999. They resided in Bay Ridge, New York before relocating with their 4 children to Aberdeen, NJ in 1969. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Thomas & Eileen Hicks, Patricia & Brian Ward, Eleanor & Joseph Goodrow, and Dorothy & Raymond Giblock. She had eleven grandchildren that she leaves behind and their spouses; Kevin & Shauna Ward, Sarah Anne & Deron McIntyre, Danielle & Dan Kilduff, Jason Haines & Megi Duri, Thomas Jr and Beth Hicks, Katherine & Mitchell Baird, Christopher Haines & Jessica Koehl, Robert Hicks, Cara Davis, Craig & Erin Giblock, and Lauren & Billy Alles. She is survived by fifteen great grandchildren. She leaves behind her loving siblings; Larry Hearn, Kevin Hearn, and Patsy Hearn Milley.
She was a homemaker that loved to cook and was an excellent seamstress. She would often make clothing for the neighborhood and her family. She was a Girl Scout leader in St. Agatha in Bay Ridge and was Nan to many children in the neighborhood over the years. She was often found in the kitchen stepping it out to her favorite Newfoundland music. She has touched many hearts over the almost 91 years on this Earth and will be truly missed.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, February 11, 2018, from 2-6PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Monday, February 12, 2018, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Funeral Mass at St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel.
