Florence "Florrie" Savage
December 1, 1924 ~ June 5, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years OldFlorence Savage, 92 ½, of Union Beach, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, June 5, 2017.
Florrie had a wonderful and full life; growing up in London, evacuated from war torn London during WWII, later meeting and marrying an American serviceman – joining legions of others as a War Bride. She became a citizen in 1976.
Florrie and her beloved husband, Herb, made their home in Union Beach, but they traveled extensively – trips to England to see family, Brazil, Alaska, several cruises, up and down the east coast and in the trip of a lifetime up and down and coast to coast across the United States in their RV.
A very talented and creative woman, Florrie was good at everything to which she turned her hand; from knitting intricate sweaters to sewing wedding dresses. In recent years she taught herself the art of fine jewelry creation. She was amazing.
Florrie is survived by her daughter, Linda of Union Beach; son, Roger and his wife Rhea of Marlboro; daughter, Carol and her husband Ron of Franklin, MA. Grandchildren: April, Leslie, Greg, Tracie, Stephen and Thomas. Great grandchildren: Maxwell, Jacob, Ella, Connor, Alex, Emily and Gunnar. She was predeceased by her husband, Herb and son, Glenn.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 9, 2017, 10AM at Old Brick Church, 490 County Road 520, Marlboro, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.
