Fannie “Fay” L. (Fedele) Straniero, 83, of Cliffwood, passed away, Friday, March 30, 2018, at Bayshore Community Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born in Cliffwood, and she remained a lifelong resident. She worked as a teacher for 23 years with the St. Mary’s Elementary School, South Amboy, before retiring. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Columbian Auxiliary of St. Joseph, the Matawan Italian-American Club and the Matawan Seniors. Also, she was a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport, as well as a member of their Altar Rosary Society.
Fay was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sebastiano “Ben” Straniero in 2005; her parents, Santino and Marianna (DiPierdomenico) Fedele; and a brother, Nicholas Fedele. She is survived by her loving children, MaryAnn Pagano and husband Michael of Hasbrouck Heights, Lori Santorsola and husband Rocco of Monmouth County, Nancy Gleason and husband Johnny of Morganville and Melanie Murphy and husband Timothy of Matawan; long-time companion, Jim Siciliano of Lincroft; dear siblings, Rose Scalzo and Steve Fedele, both of Cliffwood; and seven cherished grandchildren, Natalie Pagano-King and husband Gregory, Nicholas Michael Pagano, Dallas Lee Gleason, Delanie Fay Gleason, Manuel Thomas Carabel, Timothy James Murphy and Mason Benjamin Murphy. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 7-9PM and Wednesday, April 4, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Thursday, April 5, 2018, 9 AM at the funeral home, with a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.
