Edward N. Horgan
April 22, 1934 ~ October 1, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years OldEdward N. Horgan, 83, of Red Bank passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017, at home. Born and raised in The Bronx, NY, he moved to New Jersey in 1956. Edward is an Army Veteran and served proudly in the Korean War. He worked for JP Morgan Chase & Co. for 40 years, and in 1987 he opened The Skipper’s Shop in Atlantic Highlands and operated it for 25 years.
Edward is predeceased by his parents Ned and Winifred (née Naughton) Horgan, his son Edward Horgan, and his sister Joan Horgan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Maureen Horgan (née Callaghan), his sister Maureen Horgan, his son Mark Horgan, and his three daughters, Louise Horgan and her husband Ray Laytham, Sue Anne Romeo and her husband James Romeo, and Jeanmarie Horgan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Walter (née Callaghan) and her husband Charles Walter; six cherished grandchildren, Anna Fiona, Ella Maire, JeanMarie, Moira, Nora and Mary Grace, and extended family in Ireland. Skippy will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for his sense of humor, love of the sea, and joy in life.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4-8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10 AM at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport. Cremation will be private.
