Edward A. Johnson, age 87, of Matawan, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Edward served proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. Upon arrival back to the states, he became an artisan working exclusively with neon for over 50 years. After retiring, he worked as a volunteer at Bayshore Hospital in Holmdel for over ten years. He made many friends along the way. Edward was a member of Local #3 IBEW Electrical Union in New York City. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife, Fanny Johnson. He is survived by his loving children; his sons; Richard and Louis Johnson, both of Long Branch; his son Frank Johnson & his wife, Dora of Tinton Falls; his daughter, Deborah & her husband, Alphonse Muolo of Shrewsbury; and his cherished four grandchildren, Paul & Alphonse Muolo and Erica and Krista Johnson.
Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4-8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday July 13, 2018 at St. Clements RC Church in Matawan. Interment will follow mass at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey.
