Dominic Joseph Del Rosso

Dominic Joseph Del Rosso, age 84, of Matawan, New Jersey, peacefully passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Dominic was born on October 3, 1934 to Mary and Edward Del Rosso in Manhattan, New York. After graduating St. Mary's High School of South Amboy, New Jersey, Dominic selflessly served our country in the Navy. He was stationed in Japan, when he met the love of his life, Harumi.  Dominic married Harumi, and the two returned home to New Jersey. They raised three wonderful children together. Dominic took pride in providing a good life for his family. Throughout his life he was an electrician, plumber, and eventually owned his own fuel oil business. He successfully ran Del Rosso Fuel Oil Company in Matawan, New Jersey for many decades. Dominic was also a talented pilot. His love of flying led Dominic to open his second business, “Blue Baron Tours”, where he sold sightseeing flights to the public. Dominic was also a master of acrobatic flying. It brought him and his passengers great joy, as they flew with him in his open cockpit bi-plane.

Dominic was known to be as pure as the driven snow, a jokester, and someone his family and friends always knew they could depend on. He always believed someone was  watching over him from above, and now he rejoins his beloved wife, Harumi (Hattori) Del Rosso, who he faithfully loved and adored. Forever they will lie side by side in eternal rest.  

Dominic was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his son, Edward J. Del Rosso; and his sister, Gloria Dimech. He is survived by his two children: daughter, Mary Ann Serrano of Creamridge, NJ, and son Dominic J. Del Rosso along with his wife, Leslie of Spring Hill, FL. His siblings: Pauline Redmond Surowiec; Edward Del Rosso and his wife, Eileen; Rosemary Bering; Robert Del Rosso; his son-in-law, Michael Stefano; his girlfriend, Sharon Danis; his seven cherished grandchildren: Kryan Jarzyk and her husband, Stephen; Whitney Del Rosso and her husband, Joseph Agostinacchio; Ashley McLeod and her husband, Chris; Amanda Gjonbalaj and her husband, Av; Brett Del Rosso and his wife, Haley; Antonio Serrano III and his wife, Lisa; Michael Del Rosso; and his nine precious great-grandchildren: Alexis, Joey, and Gio Agostinacchio; Larkin, Blaise, and Tierney Jarzyk; Ari Gjonbalaj; Aubrey McLeod; and Ezra Del Rosso. Dominic will be dearly missed, and always in our hearts.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation Thursday from 4-8pm at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport , New Jersey, 07735, and again on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 11am-12PM with a 12PM Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church of Keyport. Interment will follow Mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery of Keyport.
