Diane L. Gannon (Borchek), also known as Mrs. Mitchell, 71 of Union Beach, passed away Saturday November 4, 2017 at Riverview Medical Center of Red Bank, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Jersey City and lived in Union Beach for 50 years.  She was employed by the Union Beach Board of Education as an Administrative Assistant for 34 years, retiring in 2010.

She was predeceased by her parents Richard Borchek and Jean (Nowicki) Borchek and a dear son George Mitchell Jr.

Diane leaves behind two dear sons Jeffrey Mitchell and his wife Michele of Union Beach; Christopher Mitchell and his wife Erin of Wall Township; a daughter-in-law Esther Mitchell of Union Beach; a step-son Shawn Gannon and his wife Katie of Middletown and a sister Joan and her husband Frank Rodriguez of Leonardo.

She also leaves behind 9 cherished grandchildren Samantha, George, Brooke, Jake, Ava, Christopher Jr., and Elizabeth Mitchell and Mae and Luke Gannon, and beloved nephews Mark and Darrin Rodriguez.

She was the most loved person of her husband Donald’s life, married for 18 years.  They both loved going to Aruba every year for their wedding anniversary, eventually becoming citizens in that country.

She loved to play the lottery and supporting each of her grandchildren in their sports activities. 

Diane was also an avid gardener and an excellent cook.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation for Diane on Tuesday November 7, 2017 from 4-8PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735 and on Wednesday November 8, 2017 8AM  at the funeral home for a 9AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church of Union Beach.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery of Keyport.
