Claudia (Angelini) Bates

Claudia Bates (Angelini), formerly of Howell, recently of Union Beach, passed away, Saturday, January 13, 2018, at Laurel Bay Health and Rehabilitation Center, Keansburg.

She was 62.

Claudia was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in Hazlet.

For many years, she worked as an addiction counselor in social work for the Endeavor House, Keyport.

Many things could be said of Claudia as she was a free spirit who loved the outdoors and all that nature has to offer us; especially birdwatching and bearded dragons among many things. 

Claudia was also known to many as a Grateful Dead music fan, commonly referred to as a  “dead head”, which was well-coupled with her free spirit and being very artistic within the realm of nature.

There is a quote by an unknown author that best captivates Claudia’s spirit:

We’ll meet on the path in the woods,

As the sunlight glistens through the trees,

Near the bridge where the water ripples on the rocks.

Claudia is predeceased by her mother, Carmela (Danzieri) Angelini.

She is survived by her loving children, Matthew Bates of Lincroft and Amelia Bates of Tinton Falls; her father, George Angelini of Freehold; and siblings, Pamela Boyle and her husband Lawrence J. of Douglassville, Pennsylvania and Suzanne Skene and her husband James of Bayville; one precious granddaughter, Nevaeh Hollingsworth;  nieces, Dawn Kidney,  Karen Schutter and her husband Brian J. Michelle Skene and Rory Skene; and a great nephew and a great niece, Brandon and Brooke Schutter.

At the request of the family, Claudia will be privately cremated.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, January 19, 2018, from 12PM to 2PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  A prayer service will be offered for Claudia at 1:30PM at the funeral home.
