Charles W. Donaldson

Charles W. Donaldson, 93, peacefully passed away on August 4, 2018, at his home in Matawan, NJ. He was born on December 15, 1924, in East Orange, NJ, to Charles and Madeline (Dietrich) Donaldson.  Charles proudly served in the Army in WWII and afterwards was employed by Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company in NYC for over 40 years until his retirement as a Senior Vice President in the International Division of the bank.  He married Dorothy Williams (deceased) in 1951 and raised four children.  Charles was very active in the Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster, was an avid woodworker making furniture and extensive home repairs, loved to travel and was an enthusiastic fisherman and golfer.  He was a member of the St. Clement Seniors and the Hazlet Seniors. 

Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Joan (Thomas) Donaldson; his children: Richard Donaldson of North Carolina; Patricia Ewald of Texas; Kathleen Weiss and her husband Warren of Virginia; Karen Stanley of New Jersey; his stepchildren: Delia Wilkinson of Delaware; Drew Daly of North Carolina; Dion Daly of New Jersey; Denis Daly of Florida; Dawn L'Heureux of New Jersey; Daire Guzior of Delaware; Devin Daly of New Jersey; nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Charles will be fondly remembered, and always in our hearts.

 Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, Keyport NJ; 07735, and Friday, August 10, 2018, 9AM at the funeral home followed by a 10AM Mass at St. Benedict RC Church in Holmdel. In respect of Mr. Donaldson’s wishes, he will be privately cremated. An internment of remains will take place at Hopedale Moravian Cemetery in Newfoundland, PA, at a later date.
