On Thursday, October, 3, 2019, Aurora Sola passed away at age 99. Her spirit is carried on by her three children, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Aurora del Carmen Malave was born on July 17, 1920 in Cayey, Puerto Rico to Juan Malave Gutierrez and Concepcion de Leon Burgos and was one of 13 children. She moved to New York at age 28 and married [Juan] Manuel Sola on January 25, 1949.
Aurora was known for her positive outlook on everything in life and her dance moves that were seen well into her 90s. She loved meeting new people and always tried to offer them something to eat, usually an Oreo. She may be most remembered for saying hello to everyone she passed and greeting them with a hand-hold and a “God bless you” and throwing a kiss.
Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, [Juan] Manuel Sola and many siblings. She is survived by her children: Manuel Sola, Claudia Sola Haberstroh and Joan Sola Boudle. Her grandchildren: Kelly Anderson, Cheryl Sola, Janise Stout, Christina Moylan, Craig Haberstroh, Jacquelyn Margiott and Christopher Boudle, and her seven great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited Sunday, October 6, 2019 from 2-5pm and Monday 10am at the funeral home. A service will be offered at 10:30am. Burial will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery, Keyport.
