Elizabeth “Bettie” (Buchanan) Karlovich, 83, of Hazlet, passed away, Monday, January 21, 2013, at home.  She was born in Hillside, NJ and resided there, moving to Hazlet in 1956.  For 35 years, she worked for Sears, Middletown, as a manager, retiring in 1995.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan.

Bettie was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Shaw Buchanan; two brothers, Robert and George Buchanan; and two sisters, Jean DiMauro and Margaret Filliponi.  She is survived her beloved husband, Frank Karlovich; her two loving children, Frank Karlovich and wife Beverly of Marlboro; and Denise Karlovich of Holmdel; siblings, William Buchanan and wife Terry of W. Paterson; Muriel Houser of FL; and Roberta Schultz of FL; a sister-in-law, Peggy Buchanan of Cranford; and three cherished grandchildren, Katherine Karlovich; Jaclyn Karlovich and Frank K. Strick.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 10-11AM at the First Presbyterian Church, Matawan, with an 11AM service at the church.  Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.  The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bettie’s name to the First Presbyterian Church, 883 State Hwy. 34, Matawan, NJ  07747.  To offer the family online condolences, please visit the funeral home website at www.dayfuneralhome.com.
