Robert W. Parsons, Sr., 83, of Keansburg, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at home. He was born in Bellevue, Kentucky, to Frank and Gertrude Parsons, and was raised in Indiana. He worked as a self-employed handyman. In his younger years, he was a steeplejack servicing smokestacks, working hundreds of feet above the ground with no safety equipment, and was an avid semi-professional bowler. Bob served his country by enlisting in the Army during the Korean War, was decorated with the Korean Service Medal, and honorably discharged. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #273, Keansburg.
Robert is survived by an ex-wife, Ann Grace Parsons; a son, Robert W. Parsons, Jr., both of Vero Beach, FL; a brother, Frank Parsons of Beech Grove, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Jean, also of the Indianapolis area.
At the request of the family, cremation was private. Burial of cremains with military honors will take place on Friday, June 22, 2012, 3 PM, at the Chapel in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Family and friends are invited to the cemetery.
