William F. Brookes, Jr., 85, of Holmdel, passed away, Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he grew up in Keansburg. He worked as a butcher with A&P Supermarkets in Woodbridge and Middletown for 45 years. He was a member of the Middletown United Methodist Church. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Korea.
William was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ruth A. Brookes; his parents, William F. Sr. and Hazel M. (Walling) Brookes; and siblings, Joann Engleman; Theodore Brookes and Wilma Miller. He is survived by his loving children, Robin Barr and husband Charles Barr, Sr. of Hazlet and William F. Brookes, III of Keyport; a dear sister, Isabelle Walsh of Brick; and two cherished grandchildren, Charles Barr, Jr. and Colleen Barr. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, March 18, 2018, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Monday, March 19, 2018, 10AM, with a 10:30AM Funeral Service at the funeral home.
