Walter R. Pilate

Walter R. Pilate, 74, of Jackson, passed away, Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Bartley Health Care, Jackson.  Born in New York, he resided in Matawan, Hazlet and Aberdeen, before moving to Jackson four years ago.  He worked as a regional salesman with Solo prior to retiring.  He was a communicant of St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel, where he volunteered with the St. Benedict Food Pantry; he worked with the prison ministry; and the Loving Mercy Fellowship Soup Kitchen in New York.  He served his country two terms in the Navy.

Walter was predeceased by his first wife, Agnes Marie Pilate in 2007; his father, Walter Pilate; a brother, George and two sisters, Carol and Santa.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine (Locatelli) Stenmark; his mother, Connie Pilate; his loving children, Susan Pilate; Sheryl Fransisco and her husband John; and Tina Pilate; a brother, Allen Pilate and his wife Lorraine; a sister, Barbara Morgan; and five cherished grandchildren, Mark, Michael and Brianna Manginelli; and John and Tara Lynn Fransisco. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited Friday, July 24, 2015, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday, July 25, 2015, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict RC Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Keyport.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Walter to the Breathe Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis, 880 Royal Lane, Toms River, NJ   08857 www.thebreathefoundation.org or Holisticare Hospice of NJ, 1144 Hooper Ave., Suite 208, Toms River, NJ 08753.
