Sterling J. “Duke” McCann, 85, of Keyport, passed away Thursday, April 16, 2015, at the Willows Assisted Living, Holmdel. He was born in Keyport and remained a lifelong resident. He was a self-employed real estate broker of Sterling McCann Real Estate. As an infant, Duke contracted Polio, which never got in his way of living a full and productive life. He never let his physical limitations dictate what he could accomplish. He was jovial and loved telling corny jokes. He kept people around him smiling. He was instrumental in petitioning the archdiocese to construct Jesus the Lord Church, Keyport.
Duke was predeceased by his parents, Peter Leo and Mabel (Stryker) McCann; and his brother, Leo McCann. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nellie (Steinhoff) McCann; his loving children, daughter, Alice Moore and her husband Brad of Parsonsburg, MD; and two sons, Peter McCann and his wife Carol of Reading, MA; Sean McCann and former daughter-in-law, Karen McCann, both of Jackson; and his cherished grandchildren, David, Ryan, Tyler, Kelly, Kayla and Maggie. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
