Reverend Sang Urk Rhee, Ph.D.

 

Reverend and Dr. Rhee was born in Seoul, Korea, December 27th, 1934.  He deceased on October 8th, 2015 at 80 years of age.  He was a retired banker, like many of his family members including his father, a sister, an uncle and a few cousins.  He became a Presbyterian Minister in California and obtained a Ph.D. degree in 1995 from the California Graduate School of Theology.  He was an extremely talented minister and had totally devoted his entire life to publishing a new Korean Study Bible known as Literal Translation of the Korean Study Bible in 2005, which took him about 15 years to complete.  In addition, he published another book known as Wake Up, America! Wake Up, Korea!  in 2009. 

 

He is survived by two sons, one daughter, and four grandchildren, David Yoonhee who is a graduate of MIT and CPA in Massachusetts, Daniel working for the U.S. Postal Service and his daughter Suzanna is married to a lawyer, Mr. Cummings in California, and his wife Young Ju in California.  He is survived by one brother, Dr. Richard S. Rhee, M.D., who is a neurologist in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and five sisters, Myoung Sun who deceased and was a wife of Minister Sang Woo Jung who also deceased in California, Myoung Jin in Korea, Myoung Won in New York City, Myoung Hyun who is a church elder in California and Myoung In who is the wife of a minister who deceased in Georgia. 

 

Memorial service will be held at the Monmouth Grace United Methodist Church on Wyckoff Road, Eatontown, New Jersey, at 7:00 p.m. on 10/17/15 assisted by the Day Funeral Home in Keyport, New Jersey.
