Robert W. Plath, 82, of Keyport, passed away, Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. He was born and grew up in Union Beach. He moved to Keyport 53 years ago. He retired in 1993, from JCP&L, South Amboy, as a maintenance worker. Robert was a member of the TGIF Bowling Team for 30 years; the Monday Seniors Bowling League; and the Friday Seniors Bowling League. He was also a member of the Twin Hills Rod and Gun Club; and he loved hunting and fishing. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Theresa (Strauble) Plath; his brother, Albert Plath; and a grandson, Michael. He is survived by his beloved wife of what would have been 57 years this May 17th, Winifred “Winnie” (Waltz) Plath; his loving children, Theresa Ann Boyle of Aberdeen; Robert Plath, Jr. of Middletown; Thomas John Plath of Winston-Salem, NC; and Michael Patrick Plath of Keyport; and nine cherished grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited Monday, March 30, 2015, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 10AM, with a 10:30AM service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Keyport. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Robert.
